“I create because I cannot do otherwise” – this sentiment has accompanied me throughout my life. Creativity comes to me as if it were drawing and creating through me, originating from within and constantly overflowing with new ideas. Alongside this, I am always developing new techniques and utilizing a wide range of creative technologies.
For many years, I have painted and crafted with various and diverse materials. Recently, near my home, I have established a ceramics studio where I create pottery on the wheel, paint on them, and also sculpt and produce jewelry from porcelain clay, incorporating beads collected from all over the world. I have a love for natural elements, using natural materials and natural gemstones.
My creativity draws inspiration from the Galilean nature, Rosh Pina, the ancient houses, and the beauty of the region. I am also greatly inspired by ethnic motifs, alongside my passion for creating fashion items and adapting to clothing and design styles from the world of textiles and architecture. I have a deep affection for an alternative style and recycling, combining materials and ancient styles into contemporary and futuristic creations.
I love to create new and different things in design, producing unique and original works, and I am constantly discovering new areas of creation alongside original techniques.
About the Artist
My name is Efrat Lavie. I was born in Haifa in 1967, shortly after the Six-Day War, hence my name Efrat (the way to Efrata – Bethlehem). I came to Rosh Pina 40 years ago and found great love for the man I am with and for Rosh Pina and the Upper Galilee as a special and inspiring place.
I have two grown daughters and live in Rosh Pina in a charming space full of nature and greenery. I studied painting and drawing in the early eighties and studied arts at Tel-Hai College in the Upper Galilee towards the end of the eighties, where I specialized in ceramics. For many years, I taught art in colleges and schools across the Galilee, engaged in painting and various crafts, and in recent years, I have a ceramics studio.
I want to express my deepest gratitude on behalf of myself and the group of artists in the TzahArt project. A big thank you to the community in Miami, Florida, for the idea, initiative, and contribution that allowed our group of artists to meet in interesting and enjoyable gatherings. These meetings have already succeeded in encouraging us, boosting our morale, and instilling hope for better days. We look forward to your visit to our beloved and charming home in the beautiful Upper Galilee of Israel.
