The act of painting is a process of approaching, learning, intimacy, understanding, and absorption in nature.
People are nature. I relate to them with the same intention as I relate to the landscape.
The craft of painting seeks to understand the way of seeing that enables the sensation of beauty and pleasure found in the presence of nature. In painting, I try to capture the sequence of experienced moments, so that the viewer can also experience them.
Therefore, I do not seek facial expressions, psychological expressions, or enlightening ideas. All my focus is on the experience of the beauty inherent in nature.
I admire and fear nature – from afar.
I’m a modern pagan.
