I paint varied subjects in a colorful impressionistic style: Galilee landscapes, portraits from historic photos, abstract drawings and paintings on themes in Jewish mysticism. I paint to spread light in the darkness, to engage the eye and stir the emotions. My paintings express hope, resolve, peace, and inspiration. They will make your space bright, appealing, happy and calm.

Sarah Bassan was born in Seattle, Washington in 1963.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Sarah traveled the world, studied art and world religions, embraced orthodox Judaism, emigrated to Israel, built the first strawbale and mud plaster house in Israel, operated a goat dairy, and raised 9 children, homeschooling some of them.

In 2014 Sarah resumed creating art: bead and cloth jewelry, Neocolor drawings, oil and acrylic paintings. Her art is strongly influenced by her life in Israel, Jewish practice, and the study of Jewish mysticism.

Today Sarah lives and paints in Tzfat, Israel, and shares her art with the world.
